Football games won't be the same! |

| I upgraded my 120hz Vizio to this model for my family room and can't believe the clearity! The colors are crisp, the picture is 2nd to none. You can actually see the laces on a football while in the air on a spiral. For the difference in price from the 120 to the 240hz spend it! I did and have 0 regrets. The best TV I've ever watched mutchless in my own home! |
Can't beat it for the price. |

| I purchased the Vizio SV421VXT from Amazon on February 6th, got it on February 12th. That's six days, and it didn't move for one of them due to bad weather. You'll see some complaints around about the shipping company for large items (CEVA) but I had no issues at all with them. Delivery company called, I told them I was at work, but could be home at any time for them to deliver, they just brought it to my work instead (at my request). This may not be an option for some, but it worked out great for me since I didn't have to take any time off from work to have it delivered. However, this review is for the TV, not the delivery company.
The set works great. I upgraded from a 27" CRT television to this 42" LCD, and obviously, the difference is stunning. We don't have HDTV yet, but even my standard definition Dish Network looks pretty good, as does my regular DVD player over S-Video. Blu-Ray and games on my PS3 look simply amazing. I find the sound quality to be very good without external speakers, but my living room is on the small side (the seating is about 8' from the TV) Probably the only complaint I could say about this TV yet is that the cable they provide to hook to the wall so it won't fall over (if you aren't wall mounting) is kind of unsightly. However, most people probably won't use it, and this is a very minor detail. I just used it because, for one, this is a big purchase for me and I don't want to take any chances, and we have two cats that like to climb on top of the TV where it's warm...I don't think they could even lay on top of this TV, but I'm sure they will try. I did months of research on HDTVs before settling on this model from Vizio. Overall, I found that no matter which TV you look at, there are negative reviews. Given that, no matter which TV I purchased, I would have gotten an extended warranty to cover it in case I got one of the bad ones. With the Vizio, I was able to get a quality set with the extended warranty for less that I could have gotten a bigger name brand without the extended warranty. Of note to anyone that is looking at 240Hz, Vizio uses a different technology to achieve 240Hz than does Sony. I'm not saying this makes it better or worse, because I haven't compared them, but take that into consideration. |
An excellent HDTV in its class |

| I purchased this 42" 240hz LCD TV from costco, during a sale event lately for only $699. It is of the same price to the 120hz model, thus I went for this one.
The picture quality is superb. I really cannot distinquish it from those of the other high end name brands. The set up is like a breeze. The interface to HDMI is very easy to use. It plays the fast motion scene smoothly. Watching the HD channels on this TV is a blown away experience. The only complaint is that its manual does not explain the lack of caption through HDMI input at all. It took me some research online to control the caption from the cable box. The sound quality from the speaker is so so. I probably will add a sound bar to enhance it. I have owned it too short to comment on the durability of the product. Only time can tell if its quality control is trustworthy. If it does last, the price is really a bargain, given the quality of the picture. I rather save the price premium from the name brand TV for buying another newer generation TV later than to get one which lasts forever. |
Love this TV! |

| This TV has been precisely what I wanted. I did a LOT of research before purchasing this TV, and kept coming back to Vizio. My brother-in-law has an older Vizio plasma, and I was always impressed with it, so I initially looked at Vizio's anyway, but wanting to make sure I did my due-diligence, I studied just about everything I could. Even ignoring the prices of different TVs, I kept coming back to the Vizio brand based on the quality reviews I heard/read, and the technical offerings for each of their products. Once you add in the relatively low prices for Vizios compared to anything else on the market, it became a no-brainer.
I was a bit skeptical about ordering an HDTV over the internet, but everything worked out perfectly. The delivery guys even helped get it out of the box and up onto my TV stand. It has worked perfectly so far since day one, and we use it quite heavily. My wife had foot surgery the same week the TV was delivered, so she was off her feet, and spent a lot of time with the TV on the first few weeks, and yet we've had not one single problem yet. The only complaint I have with this unit has to do with Sound. The built-in speakers themselves are just fine, and have good volume. But I have a surround sound stereo system, and getting the two synched up was VERY difficult at first. Ultimately, it came down to adjusting some settings in the stereo, and nothing was necessarily the TVs fault, so this is quite likely something that might be experienced with all HDTVs (never had this problem with my old SDTV). At first, we were having a lot of lag issues with the stereo not matching up with the TV signal, or with Blu-rays/DVDs. Now that we've got it sorted out, everything sounds great. I do have to leave the TVs internal speakers turned off though, as they are still just slightly out-of-sync with the stereo system. But the stereo pushes enough sound that it really makes no difference. Overall, I'm SO pleased with this purchase, and highly recommend this TV. |

| I just got this tv delivered from amazon today, and my mind has been properly blown. Granted, I was switching to this from a standard tube set, but this tv is incredible. I looked around a lot before the purchase and was weary at first, but I'm very happy I went with this tv. I went with the 3 year extended warranty to add peace of mind, and still saved money compared to other brands. I'm sold on Vizio. |
Great TV ... You should buy one. |

| I was a bit hesitent at first to buy a Vizio because it is a "bargain brand," but after doing a lot of research on hdtv's and consulting a techie friend of mine I decided to go with this Vizio model. I was very impressed by the picture quality of the TV, the TV's appearance, the ease of use, and even the packaging. This is my first HDTV, and after setting it up I put it next to my regular tv, put both TV's on the same station and noticed the difference is almost night and day. I don't know how I've gone so long with out one of these, lol.
I gave only 4 stars for sound quality only because if you're going to have the best in picture quality you probably shouldn't rely on the sound that comes stock with your tv. Someone gave a review of this TV and complained about the plastic smell. I noticed a plastic smell when I first took the TV out of the box. I don't think it was more strong than any other tv would be, and definitely not unbearable. After it had been out of the box for a day I did not notice it anymore, not because I was used to the smell, but because it just wasn't there or wasn't strong enough. Anyway, I've bought many things from Amazon and have not been disappointed yet. I had ordered this TV on a Tuesday, late afternoon, and it arived at my work place on Friday afternoon. Free, fast shipping, no tax, can't beat that! |

| TV is great value, picture is very good sound tone could be a little better but this is not a Sony nor a Sony price. Overall it's easy to set up and use and gives everything I expected, I got this model with 240hz because of fast moving sports, everyone who buys this model should be pleased with it. |
Amazing HD picture |

| I thought long and hard about making this purchase. I even saw the same exact t.v. at Costco for a slightly less price but had to factor in the tax and labor of taking it home. The better deal was with Amazon with free shipping, no tax and having it set up by the delivery guys. It was nice to see the t.v. at Costco and the picture quality. I think the picture quality is even better at home. So for the price that I got at Amazon and the ease of delivery and set up, I am extremely happy with my purchase. I believe the sound is clear and crisp. It also has the feature where the commercials will come on at a softer level but I don't use it because of my Tivo. My Tivo doesn't make that annoying sound with the fast forward or rewind which is another bonus with this T.V. The H.D. quality is amazing and I had H.D. before on my previous Visio set. It must have to do with the speed I think. All in all, one of my best purchases with Amazon. |
So Far So Good |

| Upgraded from a 36" Sony Wega. I did a lot of research and basically settled on the fact that I would be buying a Vizio based on the 240 Hz, the pricing and the reviews. I really wanted to get the sv422xvt because I liked the idea of the internet apps. I waited for the pricing to come down on it and it never did, so I got the sv421xvt from Dell because I had a gift card. As it turns out, someone gave me a Tivo which has the internet apps included with it.
As far as the sv421 is concerned, the HD channels are incredible. There was a little bit of distortion for some of the March Madness games we were watching. We turned the smoothing on high and decreased the sharpness and that helped a little. Still, the image was extremely clear. The sound is okay. Nothing great. I hooked it up to our stereo and it greatly improved the sound. Unfortunately our cable provider still has a large number of analog channels. Some of the channels actually look pretty close to HD, but there are several that look pretty grainy. I think the grainy images are even more apparent because of the difference in the image quality of the HD channels. For anyone that does not receive any HD or digital channels, these HD LCD's might not be the right TV for you. Delivery went very smoothly. They did not set the TV up for me, just dropped it off. Setting up the TV is fairly easy. Most people should be able to handle it. The biggest problem was moving out our old TV which weighed 150 lbs. So far no plastic smell with the new TV. Overall I am very pleased with the purchase and would recommend it. I am now trying to decide if I should purchase the extended warranty through Vizio. I also have read good things about the extended warranty that is offered here by Square Trade. I also would like to buy a Blue Ray player. Maybe I will go with a Vizio again. |
Samsung 40 inch to Vizio |
| Review Date: May 26, 2010 |
| Reviewer: Kaison Loggins, GA |
| Well to start it off i had a 40 inch Samsung, but it was only 60hz... The picture quality was great! but recently i just sold it, so i could upgrade to 240hz... All i can say is it really takes alot of getting used to... It really does give it that soap opera feel to it. Not quite accustomed just yet. Also when it comes down to the Black images they are not as dark as i'd hoped for... My Samsung definitely had sharper colors, because of the 60,000 contrast ratio. This only being 50,000. Don't get me wrong! but the the VIZIO 42 inch shows great! I'm just still getting used to the 240hz from 60 hz... HUGE difference! Also i would recommend getting HD channels, because with the standard it looks pretty fuzzy. Great investment though overall! especially if your looking to not spend over $1000!!! |

| I just hooked up this TV and I'm amazed at the picture from the Vizio 240hz. I have been a diehard Samsung owner but I bought this TV because it was the best features for the price. Very impressive, I have DirecTv HD DVR hooked up to this TV in my bedroom, off the chain nice picture. Transformers 2 looks like I'm standing right there! Good job on this 1 Vizio. |
